The Caribbean Premier League 2016 Winners list also known as CPLT20 is a local tournament held in Caribbean. This tournament follows the Twenty20 format and is a popular league that begun in 2013. The tournament is sponsored by Hero MotoCorp which is why it is officially known as the Hero CPL.
The Twenty20 format of cricket was introduced to West Indies in 2006 with the Stanford 20/20 game. While the first season of the Stanford game was privately organized, the other two seasons were handled by the West Indies Cricket Board since 2008. This tournament ended in 2009 and was later changed t the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 Tournament.
The West Indies Cricket Board first made an announcement about this tournament in 2012 and the first season began in 2013. The format was to include 6 teams based on the cities to compete against each other to win the title.
Since there are only 6 teams that participate, they are not divided into groups. Each team is required to play 5 matches against all the other teams in order to qualify.
Barbados Tridents play for the city of Barbados in the Caribbean Premier League. They are one of the six teams that have been a part of this tournament since it launched in the year 2013. The team is popular and famous Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has an equity share in this team. They are a strong team that has some of the best players involved in it. They have won one of the seasons so far. The captain for Barbados Tridents is Kieron Pollard. Their coach is Robin Singh. The home ground for Barbados Tridents is the Kensington Oval. They also have some amazing international players including Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Guyana Amazon Warriors is one of the six teams that participate in the Caribbean League Premier since the time the league begun in 2013. This team represents the city of Guyana. They have some great local as well as international players in their team. Roger Harper became the head coach for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2015 and he has made some serious changes to the team in homes that they perform better. They have some of the best international crickets including Lasith Malinga and James Franklin in their team. Some of the local players include Sunil Narine, Lendi Simmons and Denesh Ramdin. The captain for the Guyana Amazon Warriors is Martin Guptill. Their home ground is the Providence Stadium.
Jamaica Tallawahs represent the city of Jamaica in the Caribbean Premier League along with six other teams. This team has been a part of the CPL since it began in 2013. The Jamaica Tallawahs won the first season of the Caribbean Premier League after defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors. This team has some of the best players including their captain Cris Gayle. The coach for the Jamaica Tallawahs is Junior Bennett. Their home ground is Sabina Park. The team has some great international players including Kumar Sangakkara, Timroy Allen and Imad Wasim to name a few.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots is one of the six teams to participate in the Caribbean Premier League. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots became a part of the CPL in 2015. They represent the city of St Kitts and Nevis and have some great players in their kitty. The captain for this team is Marlon Samuels and their coach is Eric Simons. Their home ground is the Warner Park Basseterre. They have some amazing international players including JJ Smuts, Thisara Perera and Brad Hodge to name a few.
St Lucia Zouks
The St Lucia Zouks represent the city of St Lucia in the Caribbean Premier League. This team is one of the six teams to participate in CPL since the time it started in 2013. Although St Lucia Zouks has some great players in their team, they have managed to win only 4 of the 14 games they have played in this tournament. They currently stand last on the leader board. Darren Sammy is the captain for this team and their coach is Andy Roberts. They also have some international players including Shane Watson in their team.
The Trinbago Knight Riders
The Trinbago Knight Riders were formerly known as the Trinidad And Tobago Red Steel, however their name later changed after Indian company Red Chillies Entertainment bought a stake of the team. This company also has a major stake in the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. The Trinbago Knight Riders won the tournament in 2015. They have some of the best players in their team including Captain Dwayne Bravo. Their coach is Simon Helmot. Their home ground is the Queen’s Park Oval.
