10. Salim & Anarkali
The love story of Salim & Anarkali is known by almost every person and has been depicted in various films as well. Anarkali was a slave girl and a dancer in the court of Mughal King Akbar and Salim was the prince who was sent away for 14 years and came later as a soldier. Akbar ordered a dance performance as a celebration and Anarkali was the dancer. Salim fell in love at the very instance and decided to marry her but her father opposed him and Anarkali was entombed alive between a brick wall.

The famous love story of monk and nun in history “Abelard & Heloise”. Abelard was a famous philosopher and was hired by canon of Notre Dame, Fulbert to tutor his niece, Heloise. They soon couldn’t resist their physical closeness and thus Heloise became pregnant. Such relationship was unacceptable at that time so they ran and married secretly but Fulbert was furious so Albert sent her in a convent for safety.
