Superheroes are the most popular characters in Hollywood right now. And Disney is at the forefront of that hype. The company owns the mighty Marvel roster and Marvel heroes. They also own some Fox assets. With the launch of Disney Plus, the company has started producing popular movies and TV shows. Which are some of the best Disney superhero movies so far?
We have listed them in no particular order. But judging by the fans, reviews, box office success, and reception, we can say these are the most popular Disney movies.
The Incredibles
This movie is beyond awesome. It is an animated superhero movie that lives up to its name. The absolutely perfect film is arguably the best Pixar film and one of the best-animated movies of all time.
You will have a hard time finding someone who has watched the movie and hates it. The superhero family works so well together to fight crime. And most importantly, the movie has a great and well-developed villain.
The action scenes are amazing. The sequel didn’t do well as the first one, but that is usually the case with movies.
Captain America: Civil War
This movie had everything we love from Marvel Studios. Many people still consider it the best Marvel movie of all time. Marvel fans finally got to see Spiderman return to the fold, albeit for some quick scenes.
But pitching all the Marvel superheroes against each other delivered an epic movie. The airport battle remains one of the top 3 action scenes in a Marvel film.
Basically, this was what Batman versus Superman should have been. And Marvel Studios proved they can outmatch DC in any form. The superhero film is among the best superhero movies of all time.
Iron Man
When we are making a list of the best Disney superhero movies, we have to include the one that started everything. Iron Man started the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And since then, Disney has been able to launch a billion-dollar movie after a billion-dollar movie.
Robert Downey Jr was fantastic in his role as Tony Stark. And we can safely say, he cashed his role in the Marvel Infinity Saga quite nicely.
Thanks to the first Iron Man, Marvel was able to get back to the big screen in a big fashion.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol 1
It takes a special director to make Guardians of the Galaxy such a powerful and popular movie franchise. And that is what James Gunn did. This movie is the reason why DC called him for their Suicide Squad remake.
When Guardians of the Galaxy came out, there were already a couple of Marvel superhero movies. But they all featured popular characters, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and similar heroes. Guardians delivered a fantastic movie with a band of misfits. And the movie was set in space.
I am Groot everybody!
Black Panther
Here is to Chadwick Boseman. That guy changed the world and helped many kids around the world think success is possible even in a world where black people are still discriminated against. That is the essence of Black Panther.
The superhero film broke stereotypes and racial barriers. And that is what the Black Panther does in the Marvel comics as well. The movie was so well-written, with an amazing cast all-around, and a villain that feels natural and you can understand.
Doctor Strange
We will get Doctor Strange 2 this year, but let’s go back to the first installment of the franchise. Doctor Strange is a visually entertaining movie. There were not many action scenes or anything else we have been accustomed to in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But the visual journey? It was a total mind trip. Doctor Strange features some of the best visual effects you will find in a Marvel movie.
And each actor gave an excellent performance. It was also a great time for Marvel. They landed an A-list star to play their character. Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing. Yes, there were some flaws and plot holes in the end, but it still delivered a pleasurable experience.
Avengers: End Game
The movie ended the Infinity Saga and gave a perfect ending for two of the most important characters in the MCU. Iron Man and Captain America had their goodbye with this movie. Infinity War was all about Thanos, but Avengers Endgame was about the heroes that started the run.
The movie was as big as we have ever seen Disney and Marvel go. It also helped restore some of the popularity of Captain Marvel, as her solo movie didn’t do quite well.
We are now into Phase 4 of Marvel movies. And we cannot wait to see what Kevin Feige has for us.
Thor Ragnarok
Before this movie, Thor was a serious character with no funny side. But finally, fans got to see the character they loved in the comics. Thor Ragnarok delivered the most comic-book accurate version of the Thunder God.
Plus we got to see Thor vs. Hulk. How many movies can say that?
Spider-Man: No Way Home
When you are the first movie to gross $1 billion at the box office during the Covid-19 pandemic, you have to be doing something great, right?
Spider-Man: No Way Home was marketed as the End Game for Spiderman. Nothing would ever be the same following this movie. And we have to admit, the people at Marvel and Disney delivered on that promise.
Basically, fans got to see a live-action version of the Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse movie. And that was awesome to see on the big screen.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America has always had great movies. Maybe the first one was not something special. But it was OK as it set up the story for Steve Rodgers.
But Winter Soldier? Now that was a whole different story. The thing about Captain America is that you get to see a movie with superheroes but without any special powers and abilities. It is raw strength and mind that makes you love the movie.
No character in the movie has some special superpowers and magical powers. Yes, the superhero serum does the work. But Captain America has always felt grounded and down-to-Earth because of the lack of magical powers.
The fight scenes in this movie are so great and well-choreographed. And it was the first movie in the Marvel universe to include the Falcon and introduce the character who has now taken the mantle. Cap and Black Widow have great chemistry in this one and work so well together.
The plot with the Winter Soldier surprised casual fans. And that is how you get one of the best Marvel movies.
