The Fairly OddParents is an American animated television series. Butch Hartman created it for Nickelodeon. The TV show follows Timmy Turner, a 10-year-old boy with two fairy godparents by the name of Cosmo and Wanda. They grant him wishes to solve his everyday problems. But they are not the only Fairly Oddparents characters. What are some of the other popular characters?
The original series started with shorts on Nickelodeon’s animation showcase Oh Yeah! Cartoons from 1998 to 2001. It was then picked up as a half-hour series.
In February 2021, Paramount+ announced they will do a live-action reboot series.
Timmy, neglected by his parents and abused by his evil babysitter Vicky, is granted two fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. They grant him wishes to improve his miserable life. But in most cases, as you can assume in a funny series, those wishes backfire and cause even more problems.
In the early original series, Timmy and his grandparents were the main characters. But he, later on, asked for them to have a baby, whom they named Poof. He then also got a pet dog named Sparky.
Set in the fictional city of Dimmsdale, California, the show was a huge success. When it needs to, the TV show switches its location to Fairy World, the home of the fairies.
Fun fact: some of the celebrities who have guest-starred include Adam West, Jay Leno, Alec Baldwin, Ben Stein, Jason Bateman, John Goodman, Gene Simons, Tom Arnold, and many more. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular Fairly Oddparents characters. And yes, there is also a Fairly Odd Movie.
Timmy Turner
The famous voice actress Tara Strong voices Timmy and also Poof. She is one of the most decorated voice actresses. She has voiced characters for The New Batman Adventures, Teen Titans, DC Super Hero Girls, Marvel vs. Capcom, Final Fantasy, and many more. Tara has a Daytime Emmy nomination and Annie Award nomination.
As we said, Timmy is a ten-year-old boy who serves as the main protagonist and main character of the show. The show describes him as an average kid that no one understands.
He is neglected by his parents Mom and Dad. That leaves him under the care of his sadistic babysitter, Vicky.
While he looks selfish and arrogant, he shows through the series that he can be witty and clever. Even more importantly, he is truly brave and heroic.
Trixie Tang
Trixie Tang is the most popular girl in Dimmsdale Elementary School. Timmy strives to win her over like every other boy at the school.
Trixie is part of the popular kids’ social group. She is Veronica’s best friend. As one of the wealthiest children in the show, Trixie lives in one of the largest mansions in the city.
It is revealed that she secretly loves comics that boys read. Timmy sometimes manages to impress her and receive some admiration, but things often come between them before any relationship can develop.
Mr. Crocker
Denzel Quincy Crocker or Mr. Crocker is a mentally unstable school teacher. He is the main antagonist, one of the two alongside Vicky.
Originally, he was a backup villain in the first two seasons. But since Season 3, he has become the main antagonist of the series. By season 7, he replaced Vicky as the main antagonist.
Because of his constant obsession with fairies, many consider him crazy.
Vicky
Many fans often ask “Why is Vicky so mean?” Well, for starters, she is a member of a dark society known as B.R.A.T. Bubblebutt. She has embraced her own cruelty. But she has a reason for it. We find out that Vicky was mistreated as a child by her own babysitter.
The callous, sadistic, and ruthless girl babysits Timmy. Her menacing behavior towards the main protagonist is the reason Timmy got his fairy godparents.
Vicky is definitely one of the most horrible and corrupt Fairly OddParents characters. She cheats at everything she does. For example, she lies to the parents, tortures children, and is greedy.
Poof
The son of Cosmo and Wanda, his most notable spoken word is Poof. This is how Timmy decides upon his name.
Wanda and Cosmo decided to have a child despite the destruction that his father had caused as a baby. Tara Strong voices baby Poof as well.
Not much is known about his personality. Other Fairly OddParents characters were easily charmed by him. But he could typically say only his name.
Like other fairies, he has access to reality-bending magic.
The Crimson Chin
Jay Leno voices this character. It is a comic book hero who resides in the city of Chincinnati, protecting his fictional universe from a variety of villains.
You cannot think of him as an original character. After all, he is a superhero that Timmy loves to watch on TV.
Chloe Carmichael
Chloe is Timmy’s neighbor and one of the main cast members for Season 10. She is also a godchild of Wanda and Cosmo. The two had to get her because of the shortage of Fairy Godparents available to children.
Kari Wahlgren voices Chloe. She is an enthusiastic and outgoing young girl. Her “can-do attitude” contributes to her optimistic demeanor. Chloe tries hard to do good in the world.
When placed in an uncomfortable situation, she tries to hide her negative emotions with her outgoing nature.
Cosmo Julius Cosma
As a title character alongside his wife Wanda, Cosmo is one of the main characters. He is one of the godparents. Many consider the Fairly OddParent one of the dumbest characters on the TV show. Only Timmy’s Dad can rival him.
It is often that Cosmo’s ideas lead Timmy into trouble. Cosmo is often over-emotional. Daran Norris voices the character in the cartoon.
Wanda Venus Cosma
Unlike her husband, Wanda is a bit more responsible Fairly OddParents. She is unwilling to grant dumb wishes, something Cosmo has no problem doing. Yet, sometimes, she sometimes has to grant dumb wishes because Cosmo will do them instead.
Susanne Blakeslee voices Wanda in the cartoon. She is portrayed as bright and compassionate. She is the most responsible Fairly OddParents character out of the bunch.
Chester McBadbat
The lower-class boy is one of the two best friends of Timmy. Chester is considered unpopular like Timmy. He lives in a trailer park near A.J.’s mansion.
He is also a fan of Crimson Chin comic books. Part of the unpopular kids, he is usually picked by the other kids who want him on their team over Timmy. Tad, Chad, and Francis often bully him.
Fun fact: he does not seem to like girls. He states that they give him hives.
Foop Anti-Cosma Anti-Fairywinkle
The Anti-Fairy counterpart and side effect of Poof, he is the son of Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda. He is almost a complete reflection of his father when it comes to personality. He is evil, smart, and manipulative.
Sparky
Many Fairly OddParents fans consider Sparky a pointless dog. They say he is a completely unnecessary character to be in the show. He is also dumb and mostly present as comic relief. But the show already has Cosmo, Timmy’s dad, and others for comic relief.
Sparky was introduced in Season 9, becoming the second addition to the main cast after Poof. Yet, because of bad reception, Nickelodeon didn’t pick up the character for Season 10.
A.J.
Here is another friend of Timmy. Unlike Timmy and Chester, A.J. is smart and rich. But he is not good at social skills. This is why he is also an unpopular kid.
He is a fan of Crash Nebula and Crimson Chin. A.J. has a secret lab in his bedroom where he creates clones, and inventions, and sometimes does scientific research.
Mama Cosma
Mama Cosma is the overprotective mother and wife of Papa Cosmo. She doesn’t approve of Wanda marrying Cosmo.
Throughout the show, she has attempted and performed different schemes to break them up. Yet, she doesn’t succeed in that.
Mark Chang
The Prince of Yugopotamia is a close friend of Timmy. He has a crush on Vicky. Mark is an alien prince from a place everyone behaves and likes things opposite to humans.
For example, on his planet, aliens find garbage and manure to be delicious.
Chet Ubetcha
Let’s finish off the list with the news reporter for the television news broadcast, Channel 7 News. He is seen in the series on The News.
Chet has a tendency to exaggerate his news stories. Chet is also prone to jealousy, particularly toward Mrs. Turner.
