Childhood is when you love heroes, but adulthood is when you come to understand and love the villains. At least that is the saying. Over the years, we have seen many mean cartoon characters. Surely, you have hated some of them as a child. As an adult, you might feel for them. For example, Jerry is constantly torturing Tom, and most of us cheered for Jerry as kids.

Yosemite Sam

Yosemite is a cartoon character in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of movies produced by Warner Bros. His name was taken from Yosemite National park. As an adversary of Bugs Bunny, he is depicted as an extremely aggressive outlaw with a hair-trigger temper and an intense hatred of rabbits.

He remains one of the toughest antagonists, proudly calling himself “the meanest, toughest hombre in the West”.

Squidward Tentacles

The fictional character in the Nickelodeon animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants was created and designed by a marine biologist. He first appeared on television in the pilot episode, Help Wanted on May 1, 1999.

Depicted as a grumpy and bitter turquoise octopus, the animated character lives in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. Nowadays, he is one of the most positively accepted characters because of his grumpy personality. There are even videos titled Top 10 Jokes only Adults will get in SpongeBob. And Squidward is part of most of them.

Scar, The Lion King

Some of the mean cartoon characters you love. But you just cannot love Scar. He plotted to kill Simba and his father and rule the kingdom.

Yes, Scar is charismatic and fun, but he is definitely a mean main character. Jeremy Irons did an amazing job voicing the evil lion.

You can say he is the evilest Disney villain of all time. He set an entire plan to murder his brother Mufasa, and then placed the entire blame on his nephew. And all of that to take over Pride Rock as a King.

Tai Lung, Kung Fu Panda

Tai Lung is not your typical villain. Ian McShane voiced the snow leopard and gave him a reason for his villainy. Tai Lung believes he was robbed of his destiny as the Dragon Warrior and intends to make things right.

That motive earned him some sympathy rarely enjoyed by a villain. The attention to story and character makes Kung Fu Panda one of the fan-favorite cartoons. And Tai Lung is a prime example of that.

Eric Theodore Cartman

Often referred to just by his surname, Cartman is the main character in South Park. He is a major antagonist and occasionally an antihero in the animated television series.

When has Cartman been nice unless he benefits from it? Never. Fans see no excuse for living an awful life. But that makes him so fun. His jokes are spot-on.

He is possibly one of the most loveably nasty characters on TV. South Park wouldn’t be the same without him for sure. Hate speech and attempted genocide are his hobbies.

Maleficent

Maleficent walks with icy elegance in Sleeping Beauty. That makes her a formidable contender among the evil famous cartoon characters.

She also has an impeccable fashion sense. The mistress of all evil is a nasty witch, and she often taunts her captive prince throughout the movie.

While the evil fairy first appeared in the 1959 animated feature film Sleeping Beauty, recent portrayals have made her even more popular. For example, Angelina Jolie did an amazing job in the live-action movie Maleficent.

Evil Queen

Here is another Disney movie or Disney cartoon with a popular villain. The Evil Queen is one of the most popular cosplay outfits. Appearing in Snow White, her performance is damn scary.

For kids who grow up in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, she was a scary one. Imagine even those who grew up when the movie was first released in 1937. Her grotesque witch face will make you have nightmares forever.

There are many scenes in the movie that continue to impress people to this day. There are also new movies that portray the evil king differently than what Disney did back in the day. For example, movies like Snow White and the Huntsman.

Heather – Total Drama

You can easily say Heather is the personification of a double-cross. She is a greedy, selfish, wicked teenager and has no attachments whatsoever. Heather is among the famous female cartoon characters that we love to hate.

The main antagonist of Total Drama Island is a member of the Screaming Gophers. She was the first antagonist. Famously manipulative, Heather knows exactly what she wants and how to get it.

Throughout the show, her strategic smarts have proven quite effective as she managed to eliminate a record amount of contestants. But her vanity is her fatal flaw.

Shere Khan

The Jungle Book is an amazing cartoon film. Part of that is every animated character in the movie is likable, even the mean ones. George Sanders lent his sophisticated and urban voice to this tiger. It is a one-of-a-kind performance that cannot be duplicated.

His above-it-all delivery is an interesting alternative to previous voiceless predator characters found in a Disney films. For example, the leopard in Tarzan or the bear in The Fox and the Hound.

Mr. Burns

Charles Montgomery or Monty Burns is a recurring character and an antagonist in the animated television series The Simpsons. Christopher Collins voiced him initially, and now Harry Shearer does the job.

Burns is evil, devious, greedy, and wealthy enough to make his wishes come true. In all of his actions, he is assisted by Smithers, his loyal and sycophantic aide and secret admirer.

Initially, many people viewed Mr. Burns as a one-dimensional character. But over the years, his popularity has led to his repeated inclusion in episodes. Nowadays, fans love his delivery.

Burns’s trademark expression is the word “Excellent” muttered slowly in a low and sinister voice. And he loves saying it when trying to humiliate Homer Simpson.
